Information Systems

BITS & BYTES

Here at Jamestown Regional Medical Center we are using technology to provide the best possible patient care for our patients. Information Systems is clearly entrenched throughout JRMC whether it is our ever-evolving patient care system, PULSE, to our highly acclaimed web-based Physicians’ Access system. Since the acquisition by Health Management Associates several new technologies have been introduced to our hospital.

PULSE – Our patient care and order entry system. Since its introduction several new features have been added;

                * Discharge System (tracks all information supplied and presented to the patients upon discharge)

                * Patient tracking allows us to report all information viewed or added to a patient record. This meets all HIPAA requirements.

                * Vital Signs (coming soon). Graphical representation of patients’ vital signs.

OrderScan – e-mail based system allowing the nursing staff the ability to e-mail a scanned copy of the pharmaceutical order to pharmacy for processing. This increases legibility and provides a quicker turn around instead of the old fax solution.

TeleRadiology – This Images-On-Call system allows our radiologist to read CTs, Ultra-Sounds, Nuclear Medicine and soon MRI and Fluoroscopy remotely. This system utilizes a VPN to securely connect to our on-call Radiologist.

Med-Trans – Our Medical Transcription system. This system is connected to our PULSE system, which allows the nursing staff and physicians to review medical transcription notes on-line via Physicians’ Access or within the hospital PULSE system.

Tele-Page – Internet based text-paging system.

Vision – Allows management to view actual worked hours against allocated hours, basically making our departments more efficient.

ProMed – Emergency Department software that tracks patients, provides teaching documentation and is HIPPA protected by biometric security login system.

SoftLab – Laboratory Information Systems providing connectivity tracking of patient's laboratory test results.

AIMs – Radiology patient care system.

META & 3M – Medical Records software used for coding and abstracting patients medical charts.

McKesson HBOC – Pharmaceutical patient care system.

McKesson HSS – A thin-client based Purchasing system that allows departments to order supplies and services. System is interfaced with our Accounting system. Reduces a lot of paper.

We are ever evolving and changing, check back for new systems that will be listed as they are implemented. Thank you from our Information Systems.
